Pros
Extremely supportive environment. Colleagues are almost like family. I was not from the same ethnic community, but they still treated me like family. Directors and Assistant Directors are commendable. Treat you like your friend. Listen to problems etc. Work welfare for staff is great. Annual Leave, Sick Leave, Day off etc are pretty amazing, esp if you're a person with a family. They also pay for educational training for staff. Good place to learn the ropes of administrative work such as writing emails, speaking to people, creating decks etc. Staff exiting the organization usually end up in other good government roles.
Cons
End of the day, it's a government run organization, so comes with that traditional Singapore "anxiety" culture. Too much work load. People on top of the hierarchy want to do too many things, so it stresses out everyone, and even good and competent staff leave the company. The attrition rate is high for a self-help group and this affects overall efficiency as many don't know things. Work-life balance is bad since a lot of overtime work. People here have families and kids. Makes no sense to see people with families sending emails at 11 pm or hear about a department-head meeting stretching to 1 am. Work isn't life. It's just a pay cheque.
