Pros
The company gives $90 worth of free product of your choosing each month. There are a lot of good people that work here.
Cons
The culture at Melaleuca is very toxic. It is built on fear. Company meetings led by Frank are meant to scare employees so they don’t leave. They talk about not laying people off but in the same sentence they said “if people aren’t performing, let’s remove them and just not replace them.” The departments are working with limited team members. One person ends up doing the work of 2-3 people. Turnover in the marketing department is extremely high. It has changed almost entirely since I have been here. Employees are told they are high performers but are treated as expendable. Pay is low compared to other companies unless you’re higher up. Speaking of management, most are all white, middle aged men. The main customers of Melaleuca are women. I have seen many times when management rejects advice from their female employees and makes assumptions about the customer. They often ignore the data, going with their own agendas. The strategy is changed often and makes the lowest people on the totem pole do all the work. It is often a lot and the other departments aren’t understanding that this comes from top down. There is lots of tension between departments. The culture in the marketing department is full of gossip and secrecy. You can’t trust very many people in the department. It can consume you. I’ve had people tell me that have left Melaleuca that it is so freeing and that you don’t realize the weight it has had on your shoulders until you leave. There is so much more to say but it is challenging to capture it all. The other reviews are from marketing executives that aren’t working in corporate. They are our customers that are putting in reviews for the company.
