Pros

Great people to work with Working with a company that improves and extends lives

Cons

Relies way too much on contractors ("temps). If you accept a contract position with Medtronic, be prepared to be exploited. They'll just renew the contract (if you're lucky) over and over until you reach your two year limit (per policy), then lay you off. New contractors are brought in, and the process repeats. As a contractor, you do not get their great benefits package, and you're not allowed to partake in most company functions (picnics, etc). Medronic has evolved from a place you typically stick with for life, to a revolving door of "temp" workers.

Pros

The best company I’ve ever worked for.

Cons

Really can’t think of many. It’s heavily matrixed but that’s to be expected.

Pros

Generous, old-school benefits. Almost twice the PTO as other places I've worked, excellent healthcare, 401K matching, etc. Many high-quality colleagues and a generally mellow, polite business culture.

Cons

Multiple competing bureaucracies, internal consultancies, a computer-illiterate 'stakeholder' class with permission to disrupt anything, and perverse incentives driving waste.
