Pros

There are occasionally opportunities for professional development (unfortunately these newly acquired skills don't translate to higher pay...just more workload and less work/life balance) but the cons far outweigh the pros.

Cons

The only reward one gets for doing your job well, is more work. No words of encouragement or praise. Just more work. No matter which department you go to, you will be underpaid and have terrible benefits. Management will constantly tell you that they are looking into making sure that everyone is paid the market rate but these are just empty promises. Don't fall for them. Every single company I interviewed for before leaving Maximus, I always requested 20% more and I always got interviews. That's so sad. I regret staying for as long as I did. Don't even get me started on the amount of micromanaging. If you ever choose to work there, lets hope you never have to use the bathroom.

Pros

Remote, adequate training and guidance and usually everything /software works - minus regular hiccups.

Cons

Not too many - a few misunderstanding s about training classes and roles but overall, not bad.

Pros

Had a few really exceptional coworkers

Cons

One reason I was hired was to bring in new ideas and work approaches; however, when I tried implementing anything new, some of the “old school higher-ups” would balk and were never open to anything new or better. My management just looked the other way and didn’t support me. As for training, I wasn’t offered much in the way of onboarding other than being told to read a lengthy “standard operating procedures” document. No real opportunities were offered to shadow anyone so I could learn in real-time. A typical work week was 60+ hours and often stretched to 70+. It was exhausting and demoralizing. The job was not sustainable and I’ve never been more relieved to be done with a place. I cannot recommend Maximus as a place to grow your skills or to give your time. Turnover seems to be relatively high at Maximus and there are far better places to work.
