The benefit of any research job is the ability to be continuously challenged and learn new things every day. Some thrive in it some cannot stand it. It is the nature of every job, and each one, through self-awakening, finds out what they enjoy and want out of a working environment and people.

Pros

As an intern you will be treated as a full time employee and given lots of freedom and the responsibility to pursue the project you are assigned how you best see fit. The head chemist will provide input and steer you in the right direction if you ever hit a roadblock. The internship can seem a little sink or swim at the start but once you get used to working in a lab every day you will begin to quickly learn a multitude skills in both chemistry but also excellent time and project management. You will never have to work over time as you are cut off at 40 hours a week and not expected to work more than that.

Cons

None that come to mind

Pros

Some of the chemical projects that I worked on were interesting ideas and had a lot of potential.

Cons

I started as a chemist for an internship program, and not only did I have a bad experience, but the bosses (Kris and Sudarshan) were very unsupportive. I was a chemist, and they wanted me to build something on the first week. I never took a mechanical engineer class, and this was not what I was looking for in an internship. There were additional problems, such as lab safety precautions that were not followed and the company culture is to work overtime without being compensated. I also had to leave for the week because my father died. While I was gone, they laid me off. I highly advise against working here!

Thank you for your comments. We strive to improve, and your comments are helpful. However, we did not lay you off because of your personal circumstances but because the projects you were working on possibly ended. Sometimes these things happen, and this is the reality of the world. Many large companies lay off people without notice, and small businesses have to adjust themselves based on the funding that they have received. There were zero personal benefits to being unhelpful or rude deliberately. Every employee has entitled to their expectations, and some places are better than others for every employee. Being negative does not help anyone, and one has to learn to live and let live
