Pros

This is a job that I find myself appreciating more in retrospect than I did at the time. Having the ability to work with many different clients and see how their business is run is the kind of experience you can't get in a classroom. The relatively small size of Mann Consulting also guaranteed lots of facetime with the founders of the company, who had lots of experience to share. The small company size concentrates the amount of experience you get into a shorter amount of time. I've found myself using many skills and experiences from this job in later positions as I manage others and work with my own clients, including examples and metaphors from the company founders. The founder also was a great teacher about the value of databases, systems, and efficiency.

Cons

Working for a small company is not for everyone - there's nowhere to hide. Unlike a large company where a new and junior hire rarely sees senior management, you will interact with them every day at this job, and that can be intimidating. The founder/CEO is fair, but not afraid to be critical. Also, in a world of startups with lavish perks, this is a somewhat more austere working environment.

Pros

Working at Mann was a fantastic way to gain new experience and collaborate with an amazing team in the IT field. The chain of command was short, so I never felt 'stuck' with a task; there was always someone available to answer my questions. The team was amazing, a pleasure to work with—honest, hardworking, and knowledgeable. They truly went above and beyond to be helpful to both clients and coworkers. Despite my temporary role as a summer intern, I felt valued and that I contributed to the bigger picture—something I believe only happens in businesses with the same clear direction and goals as Mann.

Cons

At times, I had some extra downtime. As an intern, it was a bit harder to fill my schedule with tasks the same way a full-time employee could. However, once I communicated this to my manager, my concerns were addressed, and I started receiving more tasks.

Pros

Everyone at Mann is really a pleasure to work with. Everyone is very much straight shooters who truly know their stuff. They all are really great collaborators. They know their strengths and weaknesses and dont go putting on airs about it. As such you as an employee benefit as you don't have to overcompensate or oversell yourself. You can be honest and forthcoming with this team and they will be forthcoming with you. The owner of Mann consulting is really straightforward as well and is not on any kind of a high horse that he can't check in with you personally. He's very approachable & truly cares about you as an employee. Any issues that I had I was able to bring up to him honestly and it was received well and responded to respectfully.

Cons

I really don't have any cons specifically regarding working for Mann. It was potentially one of the best consulting jobs I've had. The reasons I left were more around the current market for IT service providers.
