it’s become increasingly clear that the upper management over-promises to clients which results in unrealistic and unreasonable deadlines for management on development projects. It’s not a willful ignorance but it seems the pressure to grow and stay on top puts teams of even 2 or 3 people in a frantic, stressful routine where they have an impossible task for the time and manpower allotted, then when they’re finally done and can take a breath, management says “oh yeah we need the same sized project done again but this time even quicker. By the way we’ve chosen now to completely overhaul the tools you use so they aren’t going to work half the time.” Okay I’m really nitpicking here but this is one of the few sticking points that really is a big deal. It’s the kind of thing that drives good people away and ultimately results in poor production and substandard products.
It could just be the time I’ve spent and this will eventually settle down, but I’ve gotten the sense that, overall, this is common.
