If you decide you want to have a family before this arbitrary date you will receive no support from this institution. I was lied to during my interview process about this benefit several times and it played a huge role in my decision to choose to work here, a decision have come to regret now. Maine general has decided that you're bonding time with your new born is less special if you have not worked there for an arbitrary amount of time regardless of whether you are full time or not. Its shameful and disgraceful and turned what should have been a happy time into an unbelievable stressful time. Do yourself a favor and find a hospital that believes in families and values and treating its employees like human beings not just interested in making a few extra bucks and padding the pockets of the C suite.
