Pros

Company profile and unique r+p property projects. Great staff benefits with free mtr rides.

Cons

Ill-functioning senior management resulting in the complete loss of middle management and opposition from other departments of the company. Little to none guidance offered to junior officers which hindered professional growth of employees. Working here was like riding a roller coaster except you never know whether you will part safely or getting thrown out in mid air. It’s best of you to never take this infamous ride at first.

I want to work every day but they won’t let me.

Pros

- big company - brand-name effect - accepts interns of all years I actually really enjoyed my experience and what I learnt. the environment is lax, yet employees are willing to help you learn. Part of the attractiveness of working in a big company is that their internship programs will be more established, and MTR delivered just that. My project experience was satisfying, and there was a strong sense of letting interns take ownership over their projects.

Cons

- bureaucratic - slow pace, stagnant (my manager had to wait 10 years for his promotion) - mean age is 35+ MTR has a monopoly over the metro services in Hong Kong. As such, there isn't a sense of always being better and better, but rather just keep doing what they have been doing all this time. As an intern, I found it hard to introduce new concepts, software and tools to the company.
