Pros

-NYC office location in the Financial District. -Great coworkers you will meet. -Great hospitality clientele. ...and, thats basically it.

Cons

What ever you do, do not apply for a role at this company. There are many reasons, but here are the main ones listed below: -Little to no work-life balance. No matter what position you have, you are required to be onsite and there is no option to work from home at all. -Terrible PTO. Even if you try to request time off, that is perceived as being lazy. Your PTO will not even be approved until the day before it starts. And be careful, if you put in a PTO request you are at risk of being terminated. -Basically no benefits or perks. The 4 day work week was introduced in April and taken away after 5 short months, the free lunches were taken away, and the company-provided snacks and drinks were replaced with vending machines. There are also no happy hours or any fun company events at all. The medical insurance plan is good though, but very expensive. -No structure at all. The company is almost 20 years old and still operates like a start-up. There is no opportunity for growth either, and the HR department is basically non existent. -Depending on your position, you will have to meet impossible KPI's. They are so high to a point that if you do achieve them, it easily leads to burn out and frustration. -This one is the most important: the insanely high turnover rate. Most employees last about 3-5 months at this company. As more and more people get "laid off" a feeling of fear sweeps across the entire office, and you wonder if you are next in line. It creates a really low morale among everyone, which is so disappointing. There is a constant concern about job security as well. MS Shift was a very rough and unpleasant experience, but the biggest lesson I learned was to trust your gut during your interview and onboarding processes. If something does not feel right, then it probably isn't.

Pros

The office is located in the World Trade Center, offering incredible views. The workplace provides coffee and tea, as well as bagels on Mondays and pizza on Fridays. The vending machines are consistently stocked with a good variety of snacks. The location is very convenient, with excellent access to multiple train lines, making the commute easier. Additionally, coworkers and partners contribute to a positive work environment, they are supportive and willing to help. There is always work to do, which keeps the job active and engaging.

Cons

The position is fully in-office Monday through Friday, with no option for remote work. Depending on the department, I think some level of flexibility or hybrid work could be beneficial.

Pros

Lots of opportunities for growth. In my short time at the company, I was able to evolve into several distinct roles, each with their own unique strengths and opportunities to learn and grow. Management is constantly reviewing our policies and incentives to improve performance and work-life balance. Examples include 4/10 work weeks, opportunities to work from home, and employee of the month bonuses.

Cons

The drawbacks of a smaller organization means that the company and the teams within tend to face large challenges, crunch times and need to evolve quickly to remain competitive. This typically thins the herd, but those who step up and accept the challenge are often rewarded. Another downside of this agile environment is that policies regarding work-from home are strict and limited, and the company relies on employees working full time in office to ensure the company can maintain its high standards of quality.
