Pros

MISO employees truly want to make an impact. This is offset by the fact that their talents are often stifled or undervalued by those whose egos are too big to let others succeed. Remodeling work in the building is giving an aging building a fresh and exciting new look. You have the opportunity to work with professionals from other organizations who are thought leaders. If you are woo'd by the possibilities here, plan on a short stay before you get too sucked into the negativity. If you're an intern, this is absolutely the place to be - they treat interns great! Take the three months to get the experience and then find a job elsewhere in the industry.

Cons

At one time MISO was THE place to be in the energy industry - excellent pay and benefits, interesting work, and a challenging, yet supportive environment. That has all changed - pay and benefits are ho-hum compared to other organizations, the good old boys club is alive and well here, and leadership is viewed as the person who can throw the most people under the bus (so much for the "getting the right people on the bus in the right seats" philosophy). Having a leadership team in place with deep experience outside of MISO will help mature the leadership team and get the organization back on track. You've refreshed the other levels. Now it's your turn as the problems haven't gone away. Stop with the games. This is a workplace full of professional adults. The organization is way too small for the amount of political games that get played. Leadership is about authenticity - give it a shot. Arrogance - an earlier reviewer took offense to the number of negative reviews and encouraged those reviewers to spend some time with the superstars to better understand what excellent performance looks like. This is not an uncommon attitude - "I am amazing, I don't know what your problem is." In fact, the leadership team has questioned the value of reviews on this site, attributing the negative trends to sour grapes. Spend some time building trust with your people and setting aside your ego. THEN ask how sincere the reviews are. I know several of the reviewers and will say that you will be surprised to learn that some of your top performers have left negative reviews here. Time to listen to what is being said and stop deflecting.

Pros

The people, the benefits, the company mission.

Cons

I would say that they have an outdated technology and IT department that is not agile and evolving at the same pace as the market.

Pros

Fantastic co-workers, great place to learn and get experience. Financial / health benefits.

Cons

Senior leadership who can't be honest because they have a bad habit of believing their own BS. Ever seen the reality TV show 'The Traitors'? It's kind like that.
