The company has changed a lot in past 1-2 years. Management personnel which always comprised of technical background has changed to non-technical.
So the there’s been lot of misunderstanding s when allocating work to engineers, not much consideration is given in following:
-Workload sporadically changing, excessive context switching. Doesn’t help when you’re trying to grow.
-Deadlines assigned without factoring in technical debt
-Some Engineers siloed, which makes one not feel like part of a team.
-No clear communication of the workload.
-Favouritism to key people on repeat, when an above and beyond effort from other engineers are made, it’s reflected as part of their job. But when made from these key people it’s reflected as awards, etc.
-Apart from some key people in the department, others are made to feel like a bench resource. When questioned, management cannot give you a clear answer. They will always find a way to come up with an excuse or give you the silent treatment. Which makes you question your confidence and commitment to the company.
From a very technical thriving and positive environment few years ago, the culture right now has become very toxic.
