Pros
I've learned a lot and enjoy being able to attend court hearings and assist the parents through the dependency system.
Cons
Replace all upper management, not nice people and hostile work environment. Too many supervised visits, you basically become a glorified taxi and adult babysitter. Work/life balance is way off. No time to complete paperwork resulting in you looking insufficient in court. Too much stress and very little support. Drive your car into the ground because children are placed across 4 counties. No financial assistance when car has issues. EAP is a joke. People walk out and quit regularly, as their complaints are not being heard or recognized. Not transparent with parents regarding their case and they are discussed harshly in the office. There is no true help to support parents as the courts place unrealistic expectations for case plan tasks. Guardian ad Litem program is biased and picks sides regarding the parents, and are also no help or support for case management, which is part of their job. The paperwork and documentation are a nightmare when you actually have time in the office between visitations. Eckerd throws more requirements with a short deadline that requires you to see all your families for signatures. Trainings and meetings thrown on your schedule without consideration and short notice. On call is a nightmare. Stuck sitting in the office with children. Begging for overtime hours you deserve. Working off the clock because the job is impossible to complete in 40 hours. No real support.
