Cons
* CTO and chief architect maintains absolute control over the codebase and tech stack and treats developers with disrespect. Suggestions on improvements are discouraged and "laughed at" if is not exactly in line with their already accepted way of working. * The mid and end year peer reviews are unfair. Peers are encouraged to provide ways in which an employee can improve themselves. While this could be a great way to encourage personal developent, this information is then used to discredit and attack the employees being reviewed, hurting their careers in order to withold promotions. The employee is given no opportunity to understand these criticisms, where it is coming from or to defend themselves. * Promotion criteria is clearly stipulated but not followed when promotions are due. People are not promoted yet expected to perform the duties expected at the higher level. Promotions only goes to those in good political standing with higher management. * Developers are required to provide after hour support, however they often do not properly understand the services that they need to look after.
