Pros

Loop has a beautiful new office with food and latte’s abound and people are generally excited about Loop and changing the gifting landscape. There are several people who have desks in the office who work remote thus making it early quiet in the office some days. This is a good small-company culture.

Cons

Loop is disorganized with no set direction and it seems like every new e-gifting idea that comes along is followed. This is a small “startup” has already been purchased by Synchrony Financial (large bank) and that means there’s a lot of big corporate overhead in doing most anything. In regards to compensation you can do better elsewhere in the Bay Area: Loop’s base pay is lower than average, no equity (they've already been bought and do not offer Synchrony options), and expect to pay more out-of-pocket for health insurance that’s not as good as elsewhere.

Pros

The energy has been positive from the beginning. Everyone you meet is excited about working here and the product. That energy is contagious. You'll meet talented and bright people from teammates all the way up to senior management. It's an exciting time to join Loop Commerce because of all of the recognition and adoption by retailers. The company has great potential and will grow for years to come, and every function across the company is given the opportunity to contribute. Loop was recently acquired by Synchrony Financial. The exciting part of that is Synchrony was recognized by Fortune as one of 100 best places to work. That definitely trickles down to the Loop culture. The $20k/yr tuition reimbursement is definitely one example of that. As a member of the engineering team you won't come across many hurdles to building a product that users will love. You're afforded a focused work environment and if you do come across a challenge, each and every team member is ready to jump in and help. The environment is conducive to continuous improvement. The location is great, especially if you take the train (walking distance to Caltrain). Dining options are endless.

Cons

There aren't many cons. The few challenges that I've come across (not uncommon in a small startup environment) are easily overcome. They were mostly related to the merging of processes with Synchrony (e.g. documentation, on boarding, IT support, etc.). You do however feel like you have the power to contribute to improvements.
