Is this your company?

Pros

Favours marine technical/engineering employees over all others. Free lunch allowance for London and Southampton offices (although recently slashed in half). Lazy management so easy for incompetent and workshy employees to stay under the radar. Flexible working so easy to work from home no matter what your situation. Unlimited sick leave. Absence management done on trust. Medical and dental plans; pension plan; childcare vouchers; 25 days annual leave for new employees.

Cons

The current downturn in the marine and energy sector has hit this company hard as there was no forward thinking or contingency planning by the executive leadership after 8 years of reckless spending (including the expensive move of the marine division to Southampton GTC 3 years ago). There have many layoffs round the world this year and more are to come next year. With an accountant as CEO you are just a headcount and not a real person. The only people now being hired are directors, consultants or sales people who are on a reward system. The rest of the employees have been told to put up or leave (and many are).
