Pros

Extensive training at the beginning of the contract looks great on a CV and is a good entryway into the arts. Working with genuinely great contemporary art and forming part of a team on such a well-known biennial is really exciting and gives you a variety of skills. Plenty of free time during the day (depending where you work) and you're able to meet a variety of interesting individuals in a relaxed and curious environment. Mixed bag of art venues keep the contract varied and interesting.

Cons

Entire front of house team had issues with a staff member which was dealt with fantastically by some members of the company and not so well by others. Some office staff came across quite cold and unwelcoming to temporary staff, and the front of house team felt separated from the office staff. Training could have been more comprehensive and the company's core values of inclusivity and accessibility need some work (but are getting there.) Some out-of-hours work expected and compensated half-heartedly with time off in lieu system (which is your responsibility and difficult to quantify/ poorly defined.)
