Pros

It's certainly nice to work at a major independent studio. It's not so big that the separate departments aren't familiar with one another, but the future of the studio isn't riding on one or two projects, either.

Cons

It may have been because my department was smaller/not used to having interns, but I did not get a great look at the nuts and bolts of development and acquisitions. About 90% of my time was spent at my desk, reading scripts and providing coverage. I sat in on one acquisition meeting where actual greenlit projects were discussed, but I did not feel like I had much impact. If you are looking for an internship that will lead to employment, this is not the position for you.

Pros

Enterpreneurial culture, great people, excellent benefits.

Cons

Rigid management can often lack clear and confident vision. Consistently questionable creative choices in terms of content.

Pros

The motion picture department I worked with was great. Very helpful and professional. I learned a lot.

Cons

The HR department is so petty. The SR Manager of Talent Acquisition, in particular, is so immature. Resentful of those who don't work in HR. The HR department in total is toxic and bitter, and resentful of those who don't have to work in HR because we took the initiative to develop our skills outside of working in HR.
