In my 16-year career in the digital orthodontic industry, I have never encountered a workplace environment as discouraging as the one I experienced at Lightforce Orthodontics. Speaking strictly from my own perspective, it is not a place where I ever felt genuinely happy or secure in my role. The constant sense of uncertainty around one’s job became a daily companion. Repeated rounds of layoffs — each followed by reassurances that “this time would be the last” — created an atmosphere of instability that, in my view, significantly eroded trust in upper leadership. In my day-to-day experience, the company seemed heavily influenced by internal circles of favoritism, personal alliances, and what felt like nepotistic dynamics. Visibility and advancement often appeared to depend more on personal proximity to certain individuals than on performance, capability, or merit. This culture, as I perceived it, made it extremely difficult to believe that effort and professionalism alone could lead to growth. My interactions with the HR department were especially disheartening. To me, it was the most ineffective HR team I have encountered in my career, and instead of serving as a neutral and supportive resource, it felt intertwined with the same internal power structures that shaped the broader work environment. I personally experienced situations that felt highly irregular, yet I did not feel I had a safe channel to report them. Based solely on my own experience, I would advise others to think carefully about their emotional well-being before considering employment here. I am currently searching for new opportunities and plan to leave as soon as I secure another role — even if that means accepting a lower salary.
