Pros

Light Iron is a great company to work for, particularly if it's one of your first jobs. They promote growth and help employees get where they want to be. Many employees started as interns and have been working there ever since. I felt like I was able to make a difference from the day I started and that feeling never went away. You're encouraged to work independently and there's a feeling of ownership. It's exciting to watch the company grow and play a part in that. The other employees are great. I felt like I made some life-long friends while working there and felt like part of a community. One perk is the company events. They usually hold parties for the Super Bowl, Oscars, etc, in one of the theaters. It's a cool experience. Sometimes we would have company movie night, which is also fun. The work is interesting. Light Iron works on the edge of post and production so the problems that they're solving have not been solved before. This provides opportunity to look at the best way to solve the problem and to perhaps help the industry as a whole figure out a good solution. There's a ping pong table, snacks and drinks. The office in Hollywood is cool.

Cons

The hours. This may have improved but it's more typical of a production job than a post production office job. In other words, it's unlikely that it will be a 9-6 unless you are working at the front desk. Some weeks are better than others but, in a crunch, it can get bad. The ownership that's mentioned as a pro is also a con. There's a number of founders so there's a culture that everyone is a partial owner of the company. Unfortunately, most employees are not founders so sometimes it feels like you have the responsibility of a partner but without the equity. Pay & benefits. Light Iron is fair but not generous. It depends on what you do, overall, and how well you are able to figure out which problems are the most important to solve. If you make a mistake, people will remember it.

Pros

Very little reason to except for experience, but don’t expect to grow unless you are willing to devalue yourself.

Cons

Management was very disconnected with employees and did not seem as boutique of a post house as others made it out to be…very corporate feel, not much heart. Top management barely looked me in the eyes when walking past me even in the communal kitchen. The employees are amazing and great people. Not great with feedback. Would make empty promises then blame me for not growing right before letting people go due to the strikes. Would break state labor laws and asked me to not report OT. Very toxic and backstabby environment. Does not actually value anyone, even the top talent. I personally know 2 of the top talent that was let go for little to no reason.
