Pros
Positive work culture, very reasonable work hours (no late nights or weekends) and a dedication to providing person-centered services to its clients. A number of very fun and compassionate individuals work here. Lifeworks does a good job of integrating volunteers, art and music into its programming which is very positive. Pay is competitive within the industry, benefits are rather good including sick pay and PTO.
Cons
Professional growth is encouraged within each position but "ladder climbing" or seeking out positions with greater pay potential or responsibility within the company is not only difficult but spoken of in a strangely negative fashion by leadership as if personal career motivation is seen as a negative personal trait that somehow interferes with the mission (off-putting). Things are messaged very carefully but this often plays out as a true lack of transparency for employees. Mistakes made (even very minor) tend to follow people for many years. Minimal staffing trends which can be a large stress however, this is rather typical within the industry for funding reasons beyond the control of this company.
