Pros
-The culture at the firm is excellent, especially by the standards of the legal industry. You will almost certainly make good friends, people at all levels of seniority are generally very friendly, helpful and responsive to questions and in my 2.5 years at the firm I never encountered any toxicity/bullying. -The work/life balance is much better than most comparable corporate law firms. -You will be given a lot of responsibility/autonomy even at a fairly junior level. -You will deal directly with clients at a junior level much more so than in other firms. -The physical office space is really nice.
Cons
-The firm's business model of offering clients unlimited legal advice consultations over the phone falls heavily on junior lawyers. Depending on the team your in, this might mean that you spend a significant amount of your time preparing for and running these calls, often with very short notice. This isn't always a negative, and indeed it can be nice to develop relationships with so many clients, but it can be exhausting and sometimes you will be out of your depth. -While you do have a lot of responsibility from a very early stage, you won't necessarily get much traditional legal experience in the form of carefully drafting/reviewing legal documents uninterrupted, with supervision and detailed feedback from seniors. Instead you will be regularly fielding calls with clients, drafting documents with document automation software and quickly reviewing documents before providing verbal advice over the phone to clients. This sort of work will make you much better at dealing with clients and discussing/explaining legal advice verbally, but again, it's not the sort of traditional legal work that many people would be familiar with.
