Pros
I've worked at Minneapolis-based public companies that are driven by Wall Street results, and Land O'Lakes has much higher cooperation and teamwork. This comes from being a 100+ year old cooperative, so ways of working cooperatively are part of the culture. LOL also has strong efforts on technology and systems that keep up with public companies. The four business units have synergies. Benefits and perks are good.
Cons
Margins are smaller on the types of products sold by Land O'Lakes, which can limit capital investments. Portfolio isn't as jazzy as companies who aren't based in agriculture. Company can move more slowly without Wall Street calls.
