Pros

I worked with a lot of smart people, and worked with a wide range of different methodologies and project types. It was good experience. (Hot tip: There are other places to get good experience.)

Cons

I was told that most people worked long hours but I wasn't told until after I started that the minimum expectation was at least 50 hours a week. I've worked 50 hour weeks in other places, but the expectation was usually that you would try to work an 8 hour day yet put in more time when needed. The minimum required at LRW is 10 hours, and it's often 12 or 14 or more. This is unsustainable for anyone long-term, yet is expected at LRW. There's a reason they can't hire at a senior level and it's because those of us who have worked elsewhere know this is not the norm in other companies, despite the constant reassurance of LRW lifers who claim it is. Also - HR will make you take a Strengthscope exercise when you start that they claim will explain what type of employee you are, and then management will pull it out all the time to talk about how your answers to this personality profile applies to your performance.

Pros

Great to have on a resume and genuinely interesting clients.

Cons

Poor training. Project failure inevitably becomes junior staff's problem. Pretty toxic culture. They think taking you to lunch will make it all better. Long hours and terrible work/life balance. If you don't work until 7:00 PM, you're not a team player. It seems like people just want to suck it up long enough to be a manager, get an office, and then continue the tradition of dumping everything on underlings without setting them up for success. LRW is the sort of place that will officially encourage everyone to speak up and share ideas, but in practice, they aren't interested in what you have to say. It's every cliche about corporate America you can imagine. Would it be worth it if you were being paid well? Sure, but this isn't Wall St. It's a market research company. And you are hardly paid market rates. Benefits are average.
