Pros
Working at LMC as a new graduate or even as someone new to the area of diabetes brings to you a broad range of valuable experiences. LMC is at the forefront of diabetes care and they like to keep their educators up to speed on the latest developments in the field. Medical directives also allow educators to be more involved in patient care, granting more autonomy related to patient care and interventions. This autonomy comes with extensive training and ongoing professional development opportunities. Emphasis is also placed on patient centered care and there is a focus on a more holistic approach. You really do get to build strong relationships with the patients under your care and feel like you are making a positive difference to their health. Since LMC is involved with research, new, innovative therapies and interventions are available to the patients as well. At our particular location, there was a family feel to the team and there was no divide between different departments. I definitely felt well supported by my team on site as well as my team of educators.
Cons
Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
