Pros
I had quite a good ride at LG with some great managers who were very family orientated people, and empathetic leaders. They were great at instilling trust, and self-leadership which made working with them very rewarding. Outside the people, the products are great and always interesting. The environment is very fast paced and change is always afoot, which keeps things interesting and you’ll never be bored.
Cons
Unfortunately it’s not the same for everyone. I’ve seen some terrible managers which really give a negative impact to their teams and the overall business. I think some of the other posts here are reflective of that. Processes and policies are really inefficient, and the systems and software are sometimes even worse. One of the first terms you will learn is the “Its just the LG Way”… which is used whenever anything isn’t working.. There can be a lot of distrust with the Korean side of the business. I won’t delve into this too much but language barriers and ulterior motives sometimes make effective working relationships difficult. Noted above that there is always a lot of change… sometimes that change is not very effectively managed. An example of that is the recent move to Parramatta where the communication was managed very poorly, and resulted in some high profile (and good) managers leaving. The business is under resourced in some areas, for the size and volume they are working with. One last issue I will flag is that the business is not very “one team” focused, with conflicting KPIs between departments that often lead to tension.
