Pros
LG Chemicals is one of the largest petrochemicals, batteries, and electronic materials producer in Korea. Because Samsung, or other big Korean conglomerates had only entered this business recently, it has had a relative advantage until Cheil (of Samsung) suddenly burst into growth after supplying materials for Samsung cell phones. The work-life balance is pretty good, and company tends to guarantee long-time employment.
Cons
Salary is low, and increase rate especially low. (Not engineers) This is typical of many subsidiaries of LG, but will doing this attract talent in the future? Also, besides the new BUs - batteries and e.materials - the petrochemicals BU is very old, in sense that they had a 10-yr gap of NOT recruiting new employees. The culture is stagnant and very conversative; no wonder the other LG folks call the employees here "LG Civil Servants".
