As an engineer at LG, you are essentially treated as an hourly employee without the benefit of paid overtime. Managers take attendance in useless mandatory team meetings every morning at 8:00 to shame anyone who shows up as little as 1 minute late. They also note who is working after 5:00, and they will make negative comments about your work ethic to your co-workers & management if you are not among those working long hours. Performance evaluations have little to do with your actual job but are used to determine annual raises which usually match inflation (not an actual raise). Each team gets a quota for how many team members can receive the highest grade in evaluations which is associated with the largest raises; these higher grades are disproportionately given to team members who are Korean/of Korean descent. Nearly every manager is from headquarters in Korea, and they often prefer to communicate in Korean, neglecting most employees who obviously do not know the language. A significant portion of management does not respect women engineers. There is significant turnover in every department, and resignations are generally not announced making it nearly impossible to keep up with current engineers and their assignments. There is no drive from management to correct issues if there is any impact on yield leading to constant quality issues. Engineers are not empowered to try to make improvements, instead documenting read across items installed by teams from headquarters. It is a hard place to work. There is no pride in your work here because you can't accomplish anything. If you can find another job, I'd recommend you take that instead.
