Pros

Depending on where you sit, there is a lot of opportunity to learn and do good work. Some (though a lot fewer than even at the start of this year) of the people are smart, kind, devoted to their work, passionate, and engaging. Dr. John Kotter is genuine, kind and unlike the rest of the leadership team, motivated by a desire to make the world better. The lack of reviews until very recently on this site is likely a reflection of the respect that most employees past and present have for him and his reputation. Unfortunately, things have gone beyond that now though. The benefits, pay and flexibility are quite good.

Cons

Kotter has made it as far as they will go without making some major changes. At this point, many employees past and present are wondering if the leadership team's goal is just to line their own pockets, because they certainly aren't interested in running or growing a firm. When faced with doing what is right, the leadership team will without fail choose what is easy. Senior leadership is completely removed from the day to day operations of the business and have allowed themselves to become out of touch with most employees except for a select few that they trust. They should question the trust they have put in a few of those people. They also pull in enormous salaries and bonuses each year, while expecting their internal departments to work on shoestring budgets. The top two ranks of employees are primarily engaged in political battles for perceived power. They will feed the senior leaders whatever information makes themselves look good and advance their personal agenda. They will do this at the expense of their colleagues, direct reports, and the business. At the end of the day, this is a failing business where a few longtime employees are treated with extreme favoritism. There are a few people who have done egregious things without so much as a punishment let alone being fired when it's due. The cost of turnover due to these few people is well above whatever value they bring in. But Kotter often spends millions to save pennies. Kotter will never grow unless they shake up the entire structure, and decide that some of these favorites aren't actually serving the company well and haven't for years.

Pros

Stimulating work environment - "start-up energy"; extremely talented colleagues, excellent comp & benefits, well-positioned for significant near-term growth

Cons

Lack of established processes/structure can be challenging for early career employees; Clients serviced are industry agnostic, which creates an intriguing myriad of problems to solve and also a gap in the functional/industry expertise that some clients expect
