Poor leadership, lack of technical knowledge

The people are awesome: management is down-to-earth, available, and listens to feedback; every member of each team has a great personality and attitude; no "office drama"; dogs - need I say more. The product itself is interesting and ever-changing, and there's a clear focus on impact. The niche we're in is different to any other I've worked within, and it is compelling long-term. The culture is far and above the best part of Komi. It's fun to work here, and people and their ideas are respected. It doesn't feel like ego gets in the way of good decisions. There's a distinct feeling that we're together in this to make changes and achieve big things. People in the company who work hard are rewarded well. I think if Komi continues as it currently operates, we can achieve something special, and the beautiful part is it doesn't feel important to know what that is upfront - I know that when the need for a change arises, we will adapt, help each other, and we'll have fun doing it.

It can be stressful, because there's so many unknowns this early in a company. The sucky part about hiring awesome people is that it is sad to see good people leave when the hard parts of working at a startup aren't for them.
