Pros

Management is encouraged to be very friendly (aside from romances of course) and open about current company/store going-ons. If hours are cut because sales are down you are free to tell employees. If you agree a new corporate policy kinda sucks you can discuss it with them and tell corporate your issues and new ideas are encouraged. You can at your own discretion move people around to areas that are a better fit for them and pt schedules are insanely flexible.

Cons

Hourly employees get a job title when hired, but it doesn't mean much. Kohl's believes in 'cross-training" very strongly; ie employees will get experience in every area but are always acutely aware of how expendable they are. This would would be good except for the fact that a part-timer who works ad set, truck, merchandising, and just about every dept as an associate can't be expected to know exactly where some particular tank top in the @#@#% customer's magazine is on the second day in three months they work juniors. Hiring is constant, as the goal is for employees to get no more than 15 hrs/wk. Schedules are computer generated and all over the place to prevent other employment and attempts to narrow availabilty= fewer hours. Thus, after a few months your good employees say screw it, I can get a job that is less frustrating/ gives me more hours and you are left constantly hiring people who mostly quit after a couple weeks.

Pros

Pay is very good once you start getting raises. Weekly pay

Cons

Genuinely everything else, the pay is that high because they have to pay you over 25 just to put up with the awful environment. terrible structure, terrible management, no accountability, cliquey mean girl environment. managers are allowed to sit around and do essentially nothing while supervisors carry 100% of the load and there is no checks and balances to ensure management does the right thing. Corporate and HR genuinely don't care if certain people sit on their butt While others keep the business running. Credit card pushing is absolutely Off the Wall insane. Getting enough credit cards is all the company cares about and managers do not help. Managers are allowed to have no history with getting any credit cards at all and corporate doesn't bat an eye. If you try to speak out about anything that's going on you'll just get fired. Retaliation is allowed and encouraged.
