Pros

I really enjoy working with my colleagues and appreciate the team that Kira has built. People here care about the work and put in the effort to get things done. The environment feels similar to other startups I have been part of. Things move quickly, and everyone is expected to take ownership and figure things out. Through this job, I have developed a lot of respect for public school teachers. I get to see firsthand how much they manage everyday, often with limited resources. There are many dedicated educators in the US, and it feels meaningful to be working on a product that offers a new way to support them in their work.

Cons

Overall I’m happy with my experience here.

Pros

Great problems to work on, smart colleagues, and great momentum since the 2.0 launch. Feels like we’re building and shipping a lot.

Cons

A lot going on at once.

Pros

I find some of the other reviews here hard to understand, and several of the negative posts look quite similar. From my own experience at the company, there seems to be a fair amount of selection bias, since most people who enjoy working here may not think about Glassdoor. Having worked at startups and competitors in this space, I’m genuinely excited about the product, especially our newest launches. It’s quite visionary and goes much deeper into real workflows than any tools out there. It’s also encouraging to see how engaged the end users are, especially teachers and administrators. They give constant feedback and are always amazed at how quickly we act on it (as am I). If you enjoy building something ambitious and moving quickly, this can definitely be a rewarding place to work.

Cons

Leadership is definitely type A and very particular about what they want. The pace can be quite intense, and some people struggle with it or get burned out, hurting morales. Teams sometimes work in silos, and many of us don’t see the full scope until launches, which can cause stress and frustration leading up to them (i.e., there are stressful deadlines, but you don’t always fully understand the overall vision until the big reveal). These feel like startup growing pains though. Overall, this is a company with a great vision, an exciting product, and a high-functioning team navigating a lot of growth.
