Pros
I accepted a contract role through Kforce for an engagement at a retail client, with a confirmed start date . I completed all onboarding steps, resigned from my previous full-time job, and even received the company-issued laptop.
Just days before the start date, the offer was abruptly rescinded due to a “budget freeze.”
This decision came after formal offer acceptance, onboarding completion, and equipment shipment, leaving me without a job and no transition time. As a visa holder, this immediately placed me under a strict 60-day grace period, creating serious professional and personal hardship during the holiday season.
What’s most concerning is the lack of accountability and risk awareness shown toward contractors—especially those on work visas—who make irreversible life decisions based on accepted offers.
I strongly advise visa holders and anyone leaving a stable role to exercise extreme caution before accepting offers through Kforce unless the position is fully funded and guaranteed in writing.
Cons
Offers can be rescinded at the last minute
No safeguards for contractors who resign from current jobs
High risk for visa-dependent professionals
Poor handling of budget approvals before extending offers
