The work environment is toxic to say the least. The owner micro-manages you by sitting very close to you and listening to every phone conversation you have. He also swears a lot and uses slurs in the office. When I was there, I was the only employee who wasn't a friend of the owner's family, so I was the only one who did any real work.
The job description for my job (Customer Service Manager) was not accurate. You aren't actually a manager, because there is nobody to manage. This role is just a glorified adminstrative assistant to the owner. He asked me to walk his dog, mail his personal mail for his family, travel with him for no apparent reason other than to keep him company, and to arrange other personal affairs for him. This would have been fine except for the fact this was not in the job description.
This is a whole furniture company, meaning that they do not have to charge sales tax. However, many of the company's customers are buying this furniture for their own personal use, meaning that no sales tax is ever paid on the items - making it illegal. And part of your job is to facilitate these illegal sales.
If you work here, do not let the owner know your political view. If they do not align with his, he will find a way to fire you.
