Pros

They say exit opportunities are good You take on responsibility early on

Cons

The hours are disgusting, the pay is not great, especially considering the hours. There’s not been a decent pay increase for 2 years, none at all for 1.5 years, not even a 1% increase… The culture is toxic and they expect you not to have a life outside the job, you fully belong to the firm. Also they rate your performance on a curve, so you can’t just be good, you have to be better than others, which makes the environment even more toxic. A lot of senior managers are unprofessional and they form their little circles and bully junior employees. They claim to value inclusivity but the effort ends with words. You are expected to silently suffer and not cause any inconvenience. Can’t wait to leave and have my life back.

Pros

It might sound cliche but the Pro for me is the people that I work with. I'm lucky enough to be staffed in a team with great leadership. Managers are actually willing to coach junior members and be a real mentor. I very much appreciate their efforts.

Cons

Long hours and office politics. This is pretty basic and obvious for any public accounting firms. Every time a quarter end, year end, or a special filing is going out, you can expect 10-14 hour days. It might be fine in your early career but it gets really tiring after a few years.
