Pros

Excellent work experience, training, industry experience, and working with only the best and brightest. The Sacramento office is a diamond in the rough in that you get to work on many different clients in many different industries as opposed to working on one or two clients all year long. The company does try to treat their employees well, however the downturn in the economy has made this more difficult.

Cons

Demanding, limited work life balance, and for the amount of work expected pay should be higher. At times, it almost seems like a contest to see who can work the longest or who can work more hours during a time cycle. Everyone says not to eat hours, but you will.

Pros

You get to work with an awesome, highly resilient group of local peers in the advisory practice. The KPMG brand still holds value, but the internal team dynamics have become incredibly fractured.

Cons

We have outsourced 80%+ of our Risk Advisory work, leaving onshore seniors with massive gaps in their experience. As a manager, I am stuck doing senior-level work because I typically have only one or zero local seniors or associates on my teams. The best leaders have already resigned because this model prevents actual management and mentoring. Also, it might take you 30+ years to become partner in Risk Advisory, if at all.
