Pros

KPMG is a great training ground for fresh graduates who either want to build a career in the field of accounting or has not determined what to do as a career. One will gain a lot of work experiences with different industries, companies, clients, and people. KPMG also offer good internal training programs. Also, KPMG managment is good in recognising and rewarding good work.

Cons

Probably similar to other Big 4 firms, working at KPMG means long working hours and lots of travelng (especially in the advisory practice). During busy times, one needs to work 12-15 hours a day (not including the time spent in training, administration, and traveling). Therefore, there isn't much personal time. However, when the economy is down, one may stay in the office whole day doing nothing.

Pros

You get to work with an awesome, highly resilient group of local peers in the advisory practice. The KPMG brand still holds value, but the internal team dynamics have become incredibly fractured.

Cons

We have outsourced 80%+ of our Risk Advisory work, leaving onshore seniors with massive gaps in their experience. As a manager, I am stuck doing senior-level work because I typically have only one or zero local seniors or associates on my teams. The best leaders have already resigned because this model prevents actual management and mentoring. Also, it might take you 30+ years to become partner in Risk Advisory, if at all.
