Pros

You will not work much past a typical 40 hour work week. Not much traffic in the area so if you live in Muscatine it is a quick commute to work.

Cons

If you want to step back in the 1950's regarding policies and workplace harassment then this is the place for you. Systems are incredibly antiquated with no push for change. Upper management has no clear direction and constantly bicker without any kind of cooperation. Most if not all of senior leadership is incompetent in their role and this is because the CEO puts friends in high places without any regard for talent. Office environment is very cliquey as most employees grew up in the area. Your time in office and travel time is scrutinized by your fellow peers. The culture is very "good old boys club" and employees talk openly about religious snd political topics that are very far right conservative tea party views. No paid maternity or paternity leave. Has no sick leave policy and no direction on taking sick days so leads to confusion as some managers take vacation time and others do not. Also has very poor vacation as compared to others in the industry but this is negotiable. There is a flex time policy but it is a joke because the culture does not acknowledge or allow for it.

Pros

The company provides needed jobs.

Cons

Because of its old, uninformed, rigid thinking about mental health treatments, the company discriminate against people with who are coping with mental health issues. They fired my stepson who suffers from extreme anxiety. This company bought some Agway stores in New Hampshire where my son worked. It was the only job where he found a good environment and work that he could do. That is not easy for him - he also has reading and writing disabilities and suffers from issues with self-esteem. The customers liked him, and his co-workers liked him and the feelings were mutual. Kent bought the businesses, drug tested everybody and fired him for something he NEVER did while working. THC was something that he used to medicate and calm his overly anxious mind. When he was at work, the work in that warehouse was somehow compatible for him. They destroyed him. He has not been able find compatible work since. It was totally unnecessary and, frankly, ignorant on behalf of Kent Corporation.
