Pros

I did learn a lot during my time at Jostens and had the chance to collaborate with some incredibly talented and kind colleagues. Many were generous with their time and knowledge, and I value the skills I gained through those relationships. However, even the most dedicated team members were stretched too thin—and many were actively looking to leave due to the same systemic issues.

Cons

I had high hopes joining Jostens, given its long-standing reputation. Unfortunately, my experience fell short due to a combination of factors that made the role unsustainable and demoralizing. Leadership often operated with a micromanagement style that left little room for autonomy or trust. Rather than empowering team members, the environment made it difficult to feel valued or heard. The workload was excessive for one person, with unrealistic expectations and minimal support—leading to burnout rather than development. Despite contributing to multiple key initiatives and working hard to deliver quality work, I often felt diminished rather than appreciated. This culture impacted morale and made it difficult to thrive, grow, or even maintain a healthy work-life balance. For those considering a role here, I’d recommend asking direct questions about team structure, workload, leadership style, and long-term support before making a decision.

Pros

Some of the people are great. Pay is good.

Cons

Jostens is having a lot of issues with current management, and balancing new talent with priorities for hitting profitable numbers in preparation to sell the company. 60% of the leadership that was hired in the last 12 months have been let go or quit due to constant restructuring, and the hiring of consultants so payroll can stay below the EBITA line for future buyers. The talent they brought in were a great addition in hopes of trying to bring the company up to speed on best in class practices, but the company would rather focus on making sure the sales teams are protected, and cooking the books to make sure commissions are protected. It feels like they really only protect legacy employees as they know where the bodies are buried. I'd recommend to wait to apply to this place after they sell the company, so they can clean up leadership and have a more stable path forward. Teams members have been going to HR to work through the leadership challenges, but with the company being owned by private equity, there is no sign for improvement until they get sold.
