Pros

The company mission is great. Some teams doing brilliant work. WFH Hobby culture Benefits Opportunities for learning and development

Cons

Like other reviews say: there is a glut of middle management who are performative in their working and take little accountability. They would rather coast along offhandedly and scapegoat where possible. Unfortunately there are no means to address this from what I've seen and it will likely continue. Little oversight of middle management leading to pockets of toxic behaviour with no course correction. HR can be quite passive. In some places, a jobs for pals/club culture, administration heavy, leading to poor/very mediocre but embellished outputs/outcomes. Flexibility has attracted an old guard who prioritise playing office politics leading to a corrosive experience - if you are the receiving end.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review – its always nice to hear from people who have enjoyed their time at Jisc. We are working hard to provide our people with more opportunity to mix with each other and share ideas. Things like our annual company conferences will help with these. I appreciate we don’t always pay the highest salaries, but we have some great benefits that we’re really proud of such as our pension scheme, Christmas closure in addition to holidays, flexible working and employee discount schemes.
