Training courses were fun and informative; some of the people you work with in the halls are
Cons
Truly a horrible place to work at. The actual job you do can be exciting but that excitement goes out of the window when you get your blue pass (which would take ages to get, with the referencing people being incompetent and quite frankly ridiculous). Given the stress and the amount of responsibilities you get, the pay you are getting becomes incredibly low. Usually, between you finishing your training courses and receiving a blue pass, a few weeks pass which can be critical when using specialist software, and then when you get it, they just throw you out in the wild without any support. The working environment at Jet2 is very toxic. You can essentially trust no one other than people from your training group or the better people you meet - snitching and ratting out is a common practice with people working on the ground as well as supervisors and managers (who may gossip about you, with the information from private meetings getting into the wild). Some of their rules and expectations are so ridiculous (not applying to the supervisors and managers of course) can be pulled in for a meeting for: drinking water in a wrong place, taking an unexpected phone call in a place they don’t like (and if you expect a call, you should apparently WARN THEM in advance), being on the phone when no one else is around. The management team is as two faced as it can possibly get (don’t even get me started on how the sales desk people are treated compared to those working on the ground). It’s not enough for you to just do your job well and take the initiative - if you aren’t liked by the supervisors and you aren’t a “Yes man” person, you will either be totally ignored or treated like a criminal. You can be referred to as ‘just a body’, you can be asked to do things you aren’t supposed or even not allowed to do, but than if you ask for something without your rights, you very like aren’t getting it. Speaking of not getting something you have the rights for, it’s practically impossible to get any days off. Even though there is a system in place for that, it just doesn’t work. All days are booked months in advance, with some of the days having more than 50 waiting for an approval. If you want to get the specific dates off, there is no way for you to actually get those days off - all you can do is to swap your shifts with someone else which is obviously not ideal. To round it all up, Jet2 simply doesn’t care about its employees. They need robots, who will do an awful job, for an awful pay without asking any questions. The turnaround of people working there is huge but it doesn’t matter to them - as long as there are ‘bodies’ on the ground, they don’t care
