Pros

There used to plenty of pros to rave about but these days there is not much to be left to be desired.

Cons

The firm has been on a rapid decline for years. Senior management and their lieutenants do not value the good employees and many have moved on just in the past 5 years alone. Senior management has even turned over which speaks volumes because our CEO resigned early last year. He must have known what was coming. Can't comment on the new CEO but there is a lack of transparency but he does have his work cut out for him. The overall comp is taking a hit because of recent changes to our benefit plan. Successes are not recognized and celebrated. The worst of all is the cesspool environment that has been cultivated from the top to coddle those who don't want to work but collect a check. They're good for that.

Pros

Decent, quiet compliance department for other teams, excluding the Investment Advisory. Junior staff were normal and fun to work with. Though, bare minimum interactions amongst different compliance team members.

Cons

This person is horribly incompetent, arrogant, a know-it-all, and the worst human being I've ever met. There's been high turnover over the years, and new hires left within 6 months of starting, before I joined the team. This person adopts an aggressive tone and behavior and badmouths other staff, including the mentee, whom this person named in front of the team. This person retracted the agreements after I joined the firm, made between HR and me, established prior to the job offer. This person will put you on the spot publicly to undermine your image. Simply put, a miserable person who creates a miserable environment for all of us to share in their daily misery. When I got the offer, two friends who used to work under the leader warned me to decline it. According to inside information from some of those I still keep in touch with, nothing has changed, and the position has not been filled since. This person monitors your presence at the desk by pinging you on Team every half an hour to have you acknowledge that you're there. The leader is so insecure that this person elevates oneself by putting people down.
