Very easy going and flexible employer - Sales Manager Jennings Computer Services Employee Review

Pros

This employer is a very fair and considerate when it comes to taking time off for personal appointments, sickness, borrowing a work van for personal use, taking time out for extended holiday breaks etc. They also don't breathe down your neck or track your every movement like many other employers. It's a very relaxed place to work as long as you do what is expected of you.

Cons

They may not pay the highest wages but they are a small business operating in a competitive sector so that is to be expected to a degree. And they do look after you in other ways.

Pros

Jennings Computer Services is a small Apple retail store, you'll learn much about how Apple deals with ACMT's and Apple Retail Stores. You'll be thrown into the deep-end often repairing Apple hardware that you do not have the training to do, so you learn quick on the job however no training is offered in this aspect leading to possible mistakes. In 1 month i had repaired all new forms of Apple Hardware without any training or guidance.

Cons

One weeks basic training is offered to non-ACMT and then you're let loose on any Apple machine. Minimal support and guidance is offered and you're directed to look at the manuels that you don't have access to because you're not a fully qualified ACMT. As noted, the company routinely hires a new staff member, every 3 months and lets another member go at the same time. I assume this keeps wages down and the grunt work is easy to do so why pay them more. This was confirmed by a recruitment agency. Communication between front-houses and back-house is shambolic. Often non-repaired machined were submitted as repaired by over obnoxious assistants causing issues, delays and confusion for customers and staff.

Jennings Computer Services Response
7y
A well balanced and critical but somewhat fair review. Almost. Unfortunately, there are several factual innaccuracies in this review that need to be addressed. It is true that Jennings has had a period of staffing difficulties. The Jennings candidate selection and interview process was not effective and some poor recruitment decisions were made. A significant investment (time and resources) is required to bring technicians up to the high standards required to perform Apple authorised repairs. When Jennings has identified that the investment is unlikely to be returned action must be taken. This is why there was a (short) period of churn. Jennings DO NOT hire/fire every three months. Nor has the services of a recruitment agency ever been used. Whoever provided the confirmation is misinformed. All trainees have access to all the required documentation and tools prior to qualification. Jennings require their technicians to be able to use their initiative when resolving problems. Jennings offer guidance and support but do not have the resources to provide hand holding. Jennings do not employ any "assistants". Most front of house staff do not have the required access to mark repairs as complete. Perhaps the confusion was closer to home. Sorry that your employment at Jennings didn't work out.
