Been at JCPenney for 3 years now. Got 2 raises of 29¢ ONLY. They push very hard on getting credit apps. You receive only $2 for each credit app- which is so unrealistic because you’ll be taxed and lose all that. AC never works during summer. Very hard to work in a hot & humid building. Management gets mad if we don’t make sales or credit apps even when the store is slow & barely any traffic. They expect you to do more than what you’re paid for. They’re harsh on scheduling part time workers. They’ll cut you if you go over 25 hours. Pay is always “tight” but was told by a former associate that the supervisors & leaders get bonuses for not going over pay role. When the GM’s “boss” comes in for a visit, they expect management & sometimes part time associates to stay until 2AM to clean the whole store the day before they come so it looks like we do our job. Very messy customers. They don’t care if you’re sitting next to them re-folding a table, they’ll mess it up right as you walk away.
