Pros

Access to the gym as part of your employment is nice, when I left the employees were lovely and tight-knit people, the aesthetics of the spa are nice, the job itself isn't back-breaking labor for a seemingly competitive wage. Being downtown is great if one rides a bike or uses public transportation.

Cons

The management refuses to take responsibility for disruptions or conflicts that occur on their watch. The place is poorly maintained for being a four-star spa, and management makes excuses about why they can't get it fixed, but we are on the ground talking to people and having to explain why the amenities aren't up to snuff. They demand the micromanagement of time, when I was told when hired that it was a self-guided job - that I would find things to do in my own time and do them. And I did. But there became an endless stream of forms to fill out to ensure that every second wasn't wasted. They promote cutthroat behavior between employees instead of fostering trust. It doesn't matter how long you've worked there, they will never respect you; you're simply a worker drone and the second someone says something negative about you, they will believe it.

Pros

I had some great years working for the Ivy Spa Club. I met some amazing people that I still consider friends. Made great money and really enjoyed what I was doing.

Cons

I moved away and unfortunately in that time the spa closed.

Pros

Tight knit group of providers. The repeat clientele (take great care of you) and fantastic coworkers is why you stay longer than you want to. Commission and hourly is good along with discounts on products/services plus you get to use the gym which is never busy. Its fun to work downtown.

Cons

If you drive you pay for your own parking. Raises and bonuses are NEVER given even to the people who deserve them the most and IF you get one, its probably a slap in the face and not what you are worth. You will think its great when you start bc of the nice/knowledgable leads and staff and slowly it will turn you into a crabby, frustrated person bc you take the hit on coupons and discounts (never have i ever worked at a place that did that) and if the client doesnt pay, you dont get that money until they do. Which i think is ILLEGAL. The owner makes excuses for EVERYTHING. Generalized memos posted weekly and blame is placed on everyone but management. Broken and dirty equiptment and still expect guests to pay over $100 for services. It looks and feels like an outdated spa. nothing on the walls, terrible color choice of paint, half the rooms have stuff that is broken or replaced with something that is less than mediocre. I agree with thw previous posts in that once you leave, you thrive!
