Pros
There are a handful of individuals that are fantastic people. They work hard, they treat people fairly, they’re intelligent and creative problem solvers. The product, now based on Dynamics 365 for Operations has some serious potential... Utilities are systematically adopting cloud offerings and this is an exciting time in the industry. If we can pull together as a team and deliver it, we can make an impact on the market. The travel can be fun, especially if you’re on a customer that is in a city that is enjoyable. Generally, we stay at nicer hotels and the projects have standard per diems and lodging negotiated so you don’t have to give up much in terms of comfort. If you get to travel to Europe, the office is located in a small town outside of Brussels which is absolutely beautiful. Pay is decent, benefits are okay, vacation time is what you can negotiate.
Cons
Not even sure where to start... the “leadership” team is really just a group of micro-managers. There is a serious absence of long term visionaries or anyone that understands how to lead with any type of charisma, motivation or humility. Long term planning is laughable as we’re constantly reacting rather than anticipating demands. Also, between the “leadership” team there is serious disconnect - the plans and goals of one person are constantly in the way of others. This dynamic results in combative meetings including shouting and slamming of fists on tables. I enjoy a passionate debate, but this kind of dynamic in an office is seriously detrimental to the overall atmosphere. There are also a few individuals that are highly respected by the management team. Whatever they say is taken at face value and propagated through the company. This would be fantastic if these people had good intentions, however they spend most of their time filtering negative feedback, biased views and generally do not understand the market at all - this is recipe for disaster. You’ll have them to thank.
