Pros

Great people on the ground level working hard despite upper management's total lack of leadership or direction.

Cons

Better negotiate your best deal before you're hired because you won't see another dime no matter how well you perform. Upper management plays favorites. Odds are you won't be a "favorite". Turnover is high. Zero interest in employee retention. You are always replaceable. Lack of leadership, lack of direction, lack of accountability.

Pros

It’s a full time job

Cons

Don’t fall for the lies that Island Tech Services tells you. The place is micromanaged by everyone from the main office, even people whose jobs shouldn’t involve making decisions. Like the account manager or the it manager. They hired a general manager, but he’s just a middleman for the NY team, and they have a consultant as well, but he doesn’t do much either—when he tries, he either doesn’t know what to do or just adds to unrelated conversations. The shop can’t even get basic supplies ordered, and when things aren’t done, they blame the techs, assuming we’re bad employees. They have a bias against NJ, thinking the techs are lazy, but the NY location is actually performing worse. And it is due to NY sending incorrect parts, sometimes repeatedly, and no supplies on hand. Raises are almost nonexistent, even though people have asked multiple times and just get excuses. Two senior techs get raises, but they’re difficult to work with—one even left without notice when he didn’t get his way, knowing he could get away with it. There’s a lot of drama, inflated egos, and a lack of helpfulness. There’s no room for growth unless you’re willing to accept no raise, and reimbursements take forever to get approved. I’d be surprised if this location remains open after the lease is up.
