Pros

It's a job, so you get paid for putting up with it.

Cons

Terrible attitude from upper management, lots of gossip and looking down on employees from their glass meeting room. One of the founders liked to shoot a basketball over people's heads and yelling, often to people that he was just complaining about as a sub-par employees behind the glass. There was no real HR to speak to about issues and they cannot even get hiring or firing paperwork correct. It took months to get all of the benefits and they withheld 401K benefits. They did not encourage quality or thought, they encouraged it to be done and done quickly, often leading to tons of mistakes. Since everyone disappears as soon as the clock strikes 5 to escape, don't be the last one standing because you will have to stay behind to save the account team when the client spits back the day's work, as all of the issues come piling in.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We sincerely appreciate hearing from our former team members as it helps us grow and improve. There's a few things we wanted to address here to clear up any confusion about your experience. There has always been an HR department with an advertised open-door policy. 401k benefits are not withheld from any team member, but as is clearly stated in the policy there is a three month employee trial period from start date of employment before the employee is eligible for this benefit. After that 3-month period, employees are free to sign up for their 401k at any time, and we actively encourage doing so at our annual 401k benefit seminar with our wealth management team at Morgan Stanley. We absolutely encourage both quality of work and a thoughtful process - without it, we wouldn't be able to maintain yearly contracts with several high-profile brand-name retail and B2B clients. We've also hired employees that the company is excited to invest in to grow with and build the team - the average tenure for an employee is 6 years, and we pour as much guidance as we can in making sure that their time at IRON is both beneficial for their career and personally satisfying through professional development training, client experience, and a work culture that has resulted in three boomerang employees in as many years. We value your feedback and would welcome the opportunity to discuss your concerns further offline. If you’re open to a conversation, please feel free to reach out to us directly. Our goal is to continuously improve and ensure Iron Creative remains a fantastic place to work for everyone. Thank you again for your contributions and insights.

Pros

I’ve seen a review saying management holds people back and only wants what the company is used to. That has not been my experience at all. On my team, I’m regularly asked to bring ideas, show multiple directions, and explain my thinking. If I have a strong reason for a choice, leadership is open to it, even if it is not the “usual” approach. This place is not rigid in the way that review describes. Things change fast, and the team adjusts. I have watched people try new approaches, test new formats, and improve process based on what is working, not based on “this is how we have always done it.” Also, I have not felt stuck or blocked from growing. I get feedback that helps me improve, and I’ve had real conversations about what leveling up looks like. People actually want you to get better here.

Cons

It is still client work. That means guardrails, approvals, and tight timelines sometimes. Not every idea will get approved by clients, and sometimes you have to move quickly.

Pros

The office had decent lighting and the people were not openly hostile, so at least I could physically see my work while repeatedly questioning why the compensation never reflected it.

Cons

- The base pay was low from the start and was never adjusted despite expectations. - The workload kept expanding with more accounts, larger clients, and constant after hours demands without any pay increase. - Requests to adjust salary to market rate were dismissed with vague excuses about "creative industry" standards. - Experienced hires were treated and paid like entry level employees despite senior level responsibilities. - Leadership acted surprised when employees left even though turnover patterns were predictable. - Multiple strong team members resigned due to compensation issues and nothing changed afterward. - Effort and responsibility increased over time while pay remained intentionally disconnected from job scope.

We’re responding because several statements in this review are factually inaccurate and paint a picture of IRON that does not match our records, our current structure, or the experience of our team. First, IRON has not operated out of a shared office since 2020. Our team has been remote for five years, so the reference to the office lighting does not reflect how or where we currently work. The claims about compensation also do not align with our practices. We benchmark salaries against market rates, conduct annual performance reviews, and make regularly scheduled salary adjustments based on role, performance, market conditions, and business needs. We do not treat experienced hires as entry-level employees, and we do not disconnect compensation from job scope. The claim about constant turnover is also inaccurate. IRON does not have a pattern of multiple people leaving en masse due to compensation. In fact, we have an unusually long-tenured team, with many employees having been with the company for more than a decade and a median tenure of approximately twelve years. That directly contradicts the picture painted here. We are always open to feedback, and we take compensation, workload, and retention seriously. But feedback should still be grounded in fact. This review describes a version of IRON that we do not recognize. For anyone considering IRON, we encourage you to ask us directly about compensation, workload, raises, tenure, remote work, and team culture during the interview process. We’re proud of the team we have today and the people who have chosen to build here for the long term.
