Pros
A great place to work if you are willing to play along with the charade. I was hired for a project that my manager insisted on, others pretended to agree but in reality no one actually wanted to implement. They paid me to update an excel report everyday and be a flunky just to make my boss look important. You are allowed to leave early, read books at your desk, go out for looooong lunchtime walks. You can see the job as a stepping stone, make connections that would eventually allow you to move on to better things, that would give you a sense of purpose for a while. In my particular situation, I came from a background where people took pride in making and fixing things, so the experience purposelessness wasn't for me, I started with memory and concentration problems, then irritability, anxiety, and a feeling of being emotionally drained. Overall, I would say...it was good. You know ain't all good, ain't all bad.
Cons
A lot of condescending and demeaning behavior from top and middle managers, sometimes it felt like gaslighting. Managers keep busy bulking up, overstaffing and underworking. Low level labor are continually punished. A lot of people just for boot licking and ear greasing, Lack of bi-directional comunication. Security politics are overwhelming. Management is not flexible at all. Poor senior management, no problem solvers. Zero open to change something already established, even if it represents millionaire savings.
