That's a big no - Systems Engineer Integration Technologies Employee Review

Pros

Offered benefits include parking allowance, and other benefits.

Cons

This job would require working on weekends and you don't have a choice but to do so. Things should always be in good condition and that's what you're expected to do. You'll have no time for yourself and your family and that's a big no.

You're 100% right about working weekends, it sucks and almost nobody wants to do it. For that reason, we've been very intentional over the last year about reducing after hours support calls and about making it worthwhile, money wise, for anyone who is on-call. Our on-call improvements are not perfect, but we're constantly working to make on-call better. Your feedback, along with other comments and ideas we've heard, has helped us make some major changes over the last several months. Our goal is that nobody ever feels like you felt about not having time for yourself. The IT Industry is a double-edged sword when it comes to on-call, after hours and weekend work. While few like to do it, I think everyone realizes it's necessary sometimes and nearly every IT job I've seen has some sort of on-call. We're always trying to make it a little easier on people and feedback helps. Thanks for your feedback. Mahalo, Sam Gridley CEO

Pros

I worked in an IT department for 10 years with the most verbally abusive co-worker. Over time, I thought this was normal at any job I went to, so I stayed. Once I moved over to Intech, the best thing was having co-workers with positive attitudes and willingness to help. This was foreign to me and being with the company for 3+ years, I am much happier and I love the tools we all use to get answers among team members right away. We have an inhouse rewards program where we can thank someone on our team who practices Intech's company core values. Being able to thank my team members and to be positively recognized for doing things and not being taken for granted is a huge plus considering how negative my previous experience was. Our executive team keeps us up to date on the current state of the company and where we are headed with their projections at all company quarterly meetings. These meetings are loaded with information and I appreciate knowing where we're headed. Overall, working at Intech has been challenging and fun. I say challenging in a good way. Recently, my responsibilities have grown and I enjoy the new tasks and responsibilities I am in charge of. My professional expertise is definitely put to good use and I look forward to growing as Intech does. I should have started working here years ago!

Cons

The only con is there's not enough hours in the day, but that is not anything Intech can control. Being busy, is good.

Pros

Good attitudes, friendly and committed team, plenty of communication and all the tools you need to do the job.

Cons

While working entirely remotely used to be possible, it was still a little restricting in opportunities for advancement, because it's not really possible to promote to a full engineer performing on-site installations and new client on-boarding when one is thousands of miles away from the client's location. Since all of the clients are in Hawaii, it was only a matter of time before the company pulled back from their previous remote-friendly stance and switched focus to maintaining a local-only team instead.
